Ancient classics from Greece and Rome
The collection of Greco-Roman antiquity is the largest in the holdings of the Gipsformerei and covers a period of 3000 years. For a long time, almost exclusively plaster casts were made of Roman and Greek classical sculptures. Today, they still form our historical core collection. Since the 1820s, it includes remarkable works of art such as the Laocoon group, the Punishment of the Dirke (so-called Farnese Bull), the Apollo of the Belvedere and many tablets of the Pergamon Altar in their original size.
