In the crypt of the Bode-Museum, the Skulpturensammlung and the Gipsformerei are currently showing the collaborative exhibition “The Baptismal Font from Siena. History, Restoration and Reinstallation of a Plaster Cast Model”. At the centre of the exhibition is the historical plaster cast model of the baptismal font from the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Siena in the collection of the Gipsformerei.
The Gipsformerei is undergoing extensive refurbishment and expansion. According to the plans of the architectural offices Gerkan, Marg & Partners (gmp), state-of-the-art storage and workshop areas for the production of high-quality casts are being created. New premises are also being established for the restoration of our moulds and models as well as for 3D technology. During this phase, we will maintain a reduced range for you and continue to offer selected masterpieces as casts. We ask for your understanding that there may be delays in order processing during the construction work.

Johann Gottfried Schadow (1764 -1850) was the founder of the Berlin Sculpture School of Classicism and the creator of numerous sculptural masterpieces. Many of them, such as the tomb of Count von der Mark (1790), partial casts of the quadriga (1793) and images of the princesses Friederike and Luise are part of our collection.
