Coin foundry and coinage of the 14th - 16th centuries
The collection focuses on impressions of coins, plaques and medals from the Renaissance with works by Italian artists with portraits of contemporary celebrities such as Lodovico Gonzaga, Cosimo and Lorenzo Medici, Nonnina Strozzi and Savanerola. Outstanding artists are the Renaissance medallists of Florence Niccoló Fiorentino and the Nuremberg picture caster Peter Vischer the Younger with a masterful depiction of Orpheus and Eurydice.
