The mysterious art of Oceania
Sixty impressions of objects from the South Seas, Australia and New Zealand primarily show everyday objects and ceremonial artworks used in practice. These include a head of the so-called Moai, the famous archaic ancestor worship stone statues on Easter Island, and a wooden tablet with the so-called Rongorongo writing, a language that was created in complete isolation and is incomparable to any other writing. It is the only one of 25 existing tablets, the contents of which can be at least partially deciphered.
